Mortgage means

Mortgage = meaning = It is a French word, which means ‘dead pledge’ (i.e. mort=dead; gage=pledge).

Vivium Vadiam= living pledge: In a mortgage of a property, if the creditor adjusts the mortgaged property’s profits towards principal and interest, it is called ‘vivium vadiam or living pledge.

Morguam Vadium = dead pledge: If the creditor of the mortgage loan adjusts the mortgaged property’s profits towards ‘interest part only’ and the principal is payable, then it is called ‘morgum vadium or dead pledge.
